Ingredients
- 10 lbs. Apples
- 6 lbs. Sugar
- 5 Gallons Water
- 1 Packet Turbo Yeast
First things first, you're going to need to gather up all of your ingredients. Start by washing and slicing the apples into small pieces. Don't worry about removing the cores or the skins - everything is going to be mashed up in the end anyways.
Next, pour the sliced apples into a large pot along with the sugar and water. Place the pot on the stove and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it's boiling, turn the heat down and let it simmer for about an hour.
After an hour of simmering, use a potato masher to mash up all of the apple pieces. Then, add the packet of turbo yeast to the mixture and stir everything together.
Instructions
Now it's time to let the moonshine mash ferment. Pour the mixture into a large, air-tight container and let it sit for 5-7 days. Make sure that the container is stored in a dark, cool place - this will help keep the temperature consistent throughout the fermenting process.
After the 5-7 day fermentation period is up, it's time to distill the moonshine mash. Pour the mixture into a still and heat it until it reaches a temperature of about 176°F. As the mash heats up, the alcohol will begin to evaporate and rise up through the still.
As the alcohol evaporates, it will travel through the still and begin to condense into a liquid form. The resulting liquid will be your apple moonshine, which you can then bottle up and enjoy with friends and family.
